So my dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity today, let us appreciate and proclaim the love of the Triune God, by going out and making disciples of all nations; by teaching them to observe all that God has commanded us; and by reminding all that God is always with us, until the end of the age.
Today a great silence reigns on earth, a great silence and a great stillness. A great stillness because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh and has raised up all who have slept since the world began… ” I order you, O sleeper, to awake. I did not create you to be a prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead.” (From an ancient homily on Holy Saturday)
My brothers and sisters, let us start preparing the way of the Lord and make straight His paths this Advent season, as we are told in today’s readings, by doing a thorough examination of our consciences, that is by prayerfully reflecting on our thoughts, words, and deeds in order to identify our sins and failings, confess them, and go back to God.
