1st Sunday of Lent, Year A
Let us intensify our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving so as to repent of our sins, reconcile ourselves with God, reform our actions and lifestyle and renew our lives in God.
Let us intensify our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving so as to repent of our sins, reconcile ourselves with God, reform our actions and lifestyle and renew our lives in God.
Let us pray in today’s Eucharistic celebration for God’s graces, mercies and strength to move from a formal observance of the law, to a more substantial observance of the law that is centered on true love for God and shown daily in our love for our neighbor.
Let us preserve God’s word and teachings by living out His gospel daily and by being true and faithful disciples of Christ. As the light of the world, let us illuminate the world by bringing God into our lives and our world through our actions and examples. Let us guide the steps of all to God and bring growth to God’s word in the world. Amen!
Never forget the advice of Saint Therese of Lisieux, which says, “Without love, deeds, even the most brilliant count as nothing.” So, let us start practicing these virtues mentioned by Jesus in the beatitudes today, and other virtues as well, because when we do so, our reward will be great in heaven.
Let us pray in today’s Eucharistic celebration for the grace to truly and sincerely answer our call to discipleship like Peter, Andrew, James and John with a spirit of commitment and service to God, by constantly deepening our faith in God when we listen to and believe in His Word; by professing our Faith in Him; by confidently living out our faith and bearing witness to it daily in our lives; and lastly, by spreading it in the world.
My dear brothers and sisters, let us pray to God in today’s Eucharistic celebration for the grace and assistance to truly witness to Him by going back to Him through the practice of an Examination of Conscience, a Call to true Contrition and a sincere Call of Reformation in our spiritual lives.
My dear brothers and sisters, as the Father said to each one of us, as He did to Jesus: You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased," let us be reminded that we are God's beloved children and let us please Him by fighting the temptations that come our way, by being reborn as His sons and daughters, by becoming true and faithful members of Christ body, who are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in the Christ’s mission in the Catholic Church.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, as our Lord is shown and manifested to us today in Solemnity of the Epiphany, let us manifest our love, faith, hope and trust in Him by re-discovering Christ in our lives; by offering ourselves and gifts to Him in proclaiming God’s kingdom on earth; and by being obedient to God in our apostolate of establishing His kingdom here and living out the gospel of Christ.
My dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph today, let us sincerely emulate them in their practice of Holiness, Faith in God, Love for God and their neighbors, Patience and Sacrifice, which are the basis of true Christian family life.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let us pray in today’s Eucharistic celebration for the willingness to be obedient to God as we prepare ourselves to welcome His Son our Lord Jesus Christ into our world and our lives this Christmas season. May we continue to follow Christ more obediently and answer our call to discipleship through our Faith, Hope and Trust in Him.
My dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the Guadete Sunday today, let us rejoice in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ by truly preparing ourselves to welcome Him into our lives on Christmas Day by inculcating the virtues of Patience and Humility into our daily living.
Let us prepare the way of the Lord this Advent season with the practices of Prayer, Mortification and Examination of Conscience as we endure all the challenges, difficulties and struggles that come our way when we work hard in our spiritual lives. Let us also be encouraged by the Scriptures to keep on pushing harder everyday to come closer to God because God is with us and with Him, everything is possible - RevFICO
My dear brothers and sisters, as we begin the Catholic Church’s new year today, let us be attentive to the words of Jesus to us today in the gospel reading saying "Be prepared and stay awake, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come." Let us truly and sincerely prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ this Advent season through prayer, mortification and examination of conscience.
My dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and as we come to the end of our liturgical year today, let us pray for the grace to continue to establish God’s kingdom in our world and society today by living out His gospel of love through the call to Service, Humility, Justice and Dedication.
My brothers and sisters, it is time to start preparing ourselves for the kingdom of heaven today because we do not know when our lives here would end or when the judgement day will come. So let us be encouraged by Jesus’s words to us in today’s gospel reading that ‘by our perseverance, we will secure our lives,’ and let us continue to answer His call to be His true disciples by accepting His gospel and by living it out in our world today.
