Easter Sunday, Year C
Today my dear friends we celebrate Easter Sunday, the Solemnity of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the feast day of our redemption. This Solemnity is the basis of our faith and our whole christian life, as St. Paul in his First Letter to the Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 14 to 17 reminds us saying, “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” Hence the resurrection of the Lord is the foundation of the Catholic faith.
Yes it is a well known fact that we are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, but how exactly are we affected by today’s Solemnity? We are affected by today’s Solemnity as Catholic Christians because we are celebrating how God raised His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and how He extends this homecoming to us all. Also we are affected by today’s Solemnity because it reminds us to thank and bless our God for giving us the faith to always love Him as He loved us. Lastly, we are affected by today’s Solemnity because it calls us to rejoice in the light, that is Christ our Lord, who darkness cannot overpower.
So how can we show and share Jesus our risen Lord to the world today? We can show and share Jesus our risen Lord to the world today by changing our physical lifestyle through respecting and taking care of our bodies when we pay attention to what we eat, exercising and resting adequately.
We can show and share Jesus our risen Lord to the world today by changing our spiritual lives when we take care of our minds and hearts through letting go of our negative thoughts, emotions and actions. We can also show and share Jesus our risen Lord to the world today by living out the love of Christ as well as being a source of inspiration and hope to others when we spread His joy and happiness.
My brothers and sisters, Christ our Lord is risen from the dead, so let us show our risen Lord to the world today by renewing our lives in Him; by being His light in the world today; and by carrying His light to others when we spread His love, joy and happiness to the world.
