4th April - Saint Florian
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven… - Matthew, chapter 5, verse 11 to 12.
Saint Florian was a high ranking officer in the Roman army, in the Roman province of Noricum, now part of Austria. His was described by his superiors as a good man, a real problem solver, and a dedicated hard- worker. He died standing up for his beliefs and protecting his faith. He was put to death for refusing to kill Christians as ordered by Emperor Diocletian. Saint Florian is the patron saint of firefighters and floods. Saint Florian, pray for us.
