“I am a Christian," Martina declares to her executioners, and I confess Jesus Christ." And she herself said, in the midst of her sufferings: "I love my Lord Jesus Christ who strengthens me."
O God, who among the wonders of Thy power hast granted even to the weaker sex the triumph of martyrdom: mercifully grant that we who celebrate the heavenly birthday of blessed Martina Thy virgin and martyr may, through her example, advance nearer to Thee.
So my dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity today, let us appreciate and proclaim the love of the Triune God, by going out and making disciples of all nations; by teaching them to observe all that God has commanded us; and by reminding all that God is always with us, until the end of the age.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of Christ into Heaven today, let us acknowledge our risen Lord as our Messiah by truly believing in Him, by deepening our hope and desire to attain the kingdom of God, and by witnessing to Him in the world today when we proclaim and live out His gospel and our faith in Him in the world.
So my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, it is time to grow, nurture and deepen our faith in God as Jesus taught us in today’s gospel reading. So let us do so, by living out the gospel of Christ when we practice the virtues of Patience, Perseverance, Humility and Confidence in God.
