26th May - Saint Philip Neri
Do not grieve over the temptations you suffer. When the Lord intends to bestow a particular virtue on us, He often permits us first to be tempted by the opposite vice. Therefore, look upon every temptation as an invitation to grow in a particular virtue, and a promise by God that you will be successful, if only you stand fast - Saint Philip Neri.
Today the Church celebrates the Feast Day of Saint Philip Neri, who was born in Rome in 1515 and died in 1595 on 26th May. He was a priest and the founder of the Oratorians. He was known for his gifted spiritual direction, his sense of humor for humility’s sake, his cheerfulness, and was a mystic whose heart, like Saint Teresa of Avila’s, was physically altered as a grace-filled manifestation of his fervent love. His sainthood was centered on his complete surrender to the Providence of God. (Aleteia)
