21st March - Saint Enda
Consider all the past as nothing, and say, like David: Now I begin to love my God - Saint Francis de Sales.
Today is the feast day of Saint Enda. Enda was an Irishman who was known for his military feats. He was convinced by his sister Saint Fanchea that he should stop warring and marry. However, Enda found out that his fiancee had died before he could marry her, and so he decided to become a monk. He first went on a pilgrimage to Rome, where he was ordained. He then returned to Ireland where he built numerous monasteries and churches. Enda, along with Saint Finnian of Clonard, is considered the founder of monasticism in Ireland. Saint Enda, pray for us!
